- EPC contractor: VaTech /now Andriz Hidro/ and Alpine Mayerder– Austria.
- The project was developed on the basis of an agreement between the governments of Bulgaria and Austria for cooperation in ecology and for the fulfillment of the Kyoto Protocol.
- Financing: 100 million EUR guarantee from OeKB and 100 million EUR commercial loan without state guarantees.
- First project in Eastern Europe to be implemented with green certificates and eco-credits.
- Best project in Euro money magazine rating for 2003.
